The Cosmetology program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the field of cosmetology. Learning opportunities develop academic and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized training in safety, sanitation, state laws, rules, and regulations, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, skin, hair, and nail diseases and disorders, hair treatments and manipulations, hair shaping, hair styling, artificial hair, braiding/intertwining hair, chemical reformation and application, skin and nail care, hair coloring, hair lightening, reception, sales, management, math, reading, writing, interpersonal relations development, computer skills, employability skills, and work ethics. The curriculum meets the state licensing requirements of the State Board of Cosmetology. Program graduates receive a Cosmetology diploma and are employable as a cosmetology salesperson, cosmetologist, salon manager, or salon owner.
Program Approval
The Georgia Board of Cosmetology approves the Cosmetology program.
Licensure Information
Graduates of the Cosmetology program must meet the required educational and training requirements before they are eligible to apply to sit for the PSI practical and written examinations to obtain their licensure as a Master Cosmetologist or a Licensed Hair Designer.
The diploma program is phasing out and is being replaced by the Cosmetology for Licensure program.
Students will still be eligible to apply to sit for the PSI practical and written examinations to obtain their licensure as a Master Cosmetologist or a Licensed Hair Designer.

- Submit a completed application;
- High School diploma or equivalent required for Graduation: Yes
- Age Requirement: 16
- Submit official high school/high school equivalent transcripts, if applicable;
- Submit official college transcripts, if applicable;
- Satisfy Placement Testing requirements.
